AT Southern International School, Hatyai, the Early Years programme focuses on developing learning skills and personal qualities for every child.
Children work towards achieving the Early Learning Goals in three prime areas of learning, incorporating four specific areas. The learning areas at this stage are Independence and Interdependence; Communicating; Exploring; and Healthy Living.
These learning areas are taught via the International Curriculum for Primary or IPC. IPC consists of more than 130 topics, which are grouped into suitability for different age groups (Early Years (age 3-5), and Milepost 1 (age 5-7), Milepost 2 (age 7-9), Milepost 3 (age 9-11)).
At SIH children aged between 3 – 5 years old will learn through fun activities. Teachers use learning topics that encourage a child’s life-long learning skills, as well as building up personal qualities. These are built through a range of fun activities such as toys, music, singing, messy play, and arts. Children also learn about numeracy and literacy. Our Early Years programme helps prepare your child for their next learning steps.
Assessments are conducted by our experienced teachers. This is a continual process through conversation and observation. Teachers are flexible to the needs of the children; for our Nursery children this means making individual links to their home environment. SIH sees dialogue with parents an essential part of a child’s learning. We welcome new students from different backgrounds and countries to create a strong SIH international environment.
